A loverly photo from DEANNA DURBIN!!!!

I am so excited right now, so expect me to be even less lucid than normal.

I just received a personalized and signed photo, all the way from France, from Deanna Durbin! I am so, so, so, so ecstatic right now! I have wanted to write to her since I was seven. I finally got up the courage to do it and sent it away three weeks ago. Today my dad brought in the mail and there was small thin envelope addressed to me from Deanna Durbin David!

Anyways, I am super happy about this. She was my favorite actress when I was six, seven, eight, nine, ten, and eleven! I have seen all of her films, but one.

Due to my scanner being immobilized at this time...I will not be able to post the actual photo she sent me...instead I shall post a few others I love...

OH WOW!!!! I'm ecstatic for you!!! So you got a respinse from her?! That is far too cool. I want to write to someone, but I don't know if I'd be as lucky as you!!!! Oh, Millie, congratulations!!!

By the way, I love that dress in pic 5. Oh Millie, I'm so happy for you!

*Response...what a horrid typo

Thanks, Harly!

You should write to someone. I have also received a signed photo and letter from Doris Day (that was pretty exciting) and an autographed note from Pat Hitchcock (that was also exciting)!

Funny, you should mention that dress. That dress is the same one she is wearing in the photo she sent me!

Oh, how sweet. I will write to someone, and I'm thinking Olivia de Havilland. Doesn't she live in France as well?

OMG HOW EXCITING! I'll scream for you :D
Honestly though, that is so cool. I don't think I would have enough courage to do something like that! I totally admire you.
PS: Maybe she'll type in "Deanna Durbin chocolate." Baha, I doubt it. That was seriously hilarious, though! ;)

Oh yeah, I just realized that once I typed in "The Graduate screencaps" and the ones that came up were linked to my own blog! That was a bit surprising.

Harly, Olivia does live in France. I had forgotten to write to her! She is one that I would definitely like a letter from as I adore her so much (in my top ten actresses). I do have her address and if you would like it, I can e-mail it to you, or private message it to you on TCM.

Thanks, Sarah!

Maybe she will type in Chocolate and her name...then she will see you love her. ;-D

Wow, Graduate too? You are just famous!

Isn't it fun to receive autographs??

Just for info...Olivia de Havilland does live in France, but she's stated that until she finishes her book she won't be signing autographs. I thought I would try anyways, but didn't get a response...so I guess she was serious. :)

That was quite a few months ago, though. You might have better luck by this time.

wow! congrats Millie!! VERY nifty!
I just sent a letter to Marsha Hunt, and I haven't heard back yet (I sent it about two weeks ago?) What was the address for Pat Hitchcock? I LOVE her!

That is amazing! Congratulations...I've been wanting to do something like that for a while. I'd better before all the rest of my favorite stars die.

Do you send them a photograph to sign, or do they autograph a picture of their own and send it to you?

Deanna Durbin is so gorgeous! People underestimate what a beauty she turned out to be!

Emme: I had heard that too. But, it never hurts to try!

Kate: Thanks! That will be cool. It usually takes a bit for a letter to come back. It took a month for Doris Day and 4 months for Pat Hitchcock!
I will e-mail you Pat's address!

Merriam: That's what I think! Most of my faves are getting pretty old! I am a bad autograph seeker! I did not send a picture with my letter. They just sent it to me.

Raquelle: You are so right. She was absolutely gorgeous. And for her to just up and quite the business at the age of 27...at the height of her beauty? Amazing!

I have an autographed photo of Deanna Durbin from her movie called CAN'T HELP SINGING. Her birth name is really Edna May Durbin (not Mae). A fellow from the USA who emails me was in the same school as Deanna way back in the mid 1930s. He was also in the same school play with her and remembers how beautifully she sang!
