Kris Allen crowned American Idol...and yes, this post does have something to do with classic film...sorta...kinda...mostly...

So, Kris Allen was named American Idol tonight to the very shocked world who wanted Adam to win (I did not). Adam has been so set up to win since the beginning...by everyone, mostly the Idol judges and the producers.

After all, if I decided I didn't like the Beatles simply because I heard poorly-chosen comments about the Monkees being the "pre-fab four" (completely false by the way!) then I certainly wasn't going to like Adam after all the unabashed favoritism he has received!

Anyways, I was quite pleased Kris won (although my favorite for the season was Megan Joy, who had the coolest voice and an amazing fashion sense to boot).

But, to turn it back into a "vintage" discussion....

Ever since I first saw Kris I knew who he reminded me of. He is an exact replica of Michael Callan (although Kris is a far superior singer). If you do NOT know who Michael Callan is, then possibly (unlike me) you have not seen Gidget Goes Hawaiian 500,056 times. Michael is also of Cat Ballou fame.

Okay, they don't really look alike in these photos, so my entire post is practically worthless. But, seriously if you have seen them both on video you would agree with me! Their very mannerisms are similar! Their very last names rhyme!

I tried to find a video of Michael and I couldn't find a good one, so that was out. I tried to find a video of Kris performing my favorite of his, Falling Slowly, but there were none! Geez, I feel like the entire world if against my poor little blog!

So, thus ends a definitely vintage post. ;-D And, I'm sorry for talking a little bit of modern talk, but I've been dying to mention the resemblence all season now! And, yes, I do watch reality TV. But only the cream of the crop: American Idol, Amazing Race, and Survivor! Hahaha....
