What I Eat When I Watch Movies:

I like to watch old movies. But, what's even better is eating while watching old movies. Below are what I can be most often found eating during the movies (and even when not watching movies...;-D).

It's in no particular order:

Shultz's Big Bag of Mini Pretzels (seriously my family gets the 6 lb. bag and goes through it in less than a month)!

I usually pair this with:

Tillamook Sharp Cheddar Cheese. My family's normal, every day cheese.

I also often pair these two things with:

Granny Smith apples. We always have a huge box of Granny Smith's, because my dad juices them with carrots every morning. They really taste so good with cheddar or a pretzel...or plain.

Rice Cakes. Although I couldn't find a photo online (and my camera has been acting wacky lately), my family normally gets the delicious organic, unsalted, brown rice variety. My mom usually orders a bulk of rice cakes through our food co-op. One can often find me sitting watching a film and munching on rice cakes. EDIT: I found a photo of my fave rice cake company:

Okay, moving right along:

Tofu. It doesn't look very appetizing in the above photo, but it really is delicious! My normal brand is organic and locally made. Although, I sometimes switch around...depending on what's available. I always get this strange feeling that I'm the only non-vegetarian who loves and eats this stuff constantly (the rest of my family hates it).

All Natural Cheese Puffs! THE. BEST. EVER!

Yaya's 100% Natural Cheese Popcorn. Haha, I always eat these with my mom.

Stretch Island Fruit Leather is all-natural and quite scrumptious. I have been eating these for longer than I can remember. And I practically lived on them when I was in Sierra Leone.

Newman's Own makes my favorite chocolate. Organic Sweet Dark Orange is both tasty and good for you (well, let's put it this way: it's not BAD for you). Yes, that's Paul on the wrapper. I am probably one of the only people ever who knew Paul first for his food and then for his acting. I still remember my excited revelation to my mother (when I was about eight) that there was an actor named Paul Newman just like the food Paul Newman...hehehe

NOW WHAT I DRINK:

If I have nothing else than I always need a tall glass of Ice Water. It tastes good with everything.

I make and drink ice tea constantly in the summer. (Although, regrettably mine never looks quite as good as that.)

I have been drinking Blue Sky Natural Pop (heck, where I come from nobody calls pop...soda) for my entire life. When I was younger I never knew that there was such a thing as "unhealthy" pop.

Hi-ball Energy Water is so good it's practically criminal. I have never, ever been an Energy Drink drinker, but this Energy water is so healthy (and so amazingly fizzy) I couldn't resist. And, plus the bottles are pretty much amazing.

Pure, fresh, and all natural. The ingredients in my favorite flavor (Orangemint) are as follows: Water, mint, and orange essence...now there's a refreshing sounding drink.

And, that's about it (for what I can think of right now). Mostly all of the food is all-natural or organic or both, and that's because that was how I was raised. My dad is an extremely healthy person and my mom is a hippie. Well, not really, but that's what we always call her (much to her annoyance); because she wears Birkenstocks, has a huge vegetable garden, drives around in an old Subaru, listens to 60's folk music, strives to make completely raw meals, shops at Marlene's (a local Organic and All-Natural grocery store), and was a child of the 60's.

Anyways, I'm curious! What do you eat while you watch movies?

Thanks for sticking with me through this rather dull and uneventful post!

Coming soon (hopefully tomorrow): a Semi-Review of Mister Roberts!!!!

Ten little bits of randomness concerning...ME!

So, you probably were really not expecting a post with the above title coming from my blog...because everything I write is random and incoherent. So, anyways, now I am gonna write a post about randomness in my random writing style.

Sarah at Cinema Splendor tagged me to do this little exercise. If you would like to see her fascinating list of randomness click on the blog link.

Anyways, Fasten your seat-belts! It's gonna be a bumpy read! (To borrow from Margo.)

1. I love gourmet cheese. So, does my older sister. We can be often found sitting at her house watching one of the Thin Man movies and eating cheese.

2. I have always wanted to be on Jeopardy. I just love that show! I play my computer version of it ALL the time!

3. I once convinced my youngest brother that my family bought him on Ebay from a family in China for 99 cents.
I'm so mean...hehehe

4. Last August I had a birthday party for Alfred Hitchcock. I invited some friends over to watch his movies. I also tried to make chocolate chip cookies in the shape of his profile...unsuccessfully.

5. I am always taking famous phrase and accidentally messing them up. For example: instead of "Close, but no cigar", I've said, "Close, but no Parcheesi".

6. I give inanimate objects names, personalities, families, and backgrounds. I'm serious.

7. I have seen all the episodes of several TV shows. Wild, Wild West, I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Columbo, um..cough...cough Star Trek, The Brady Bunch...cough...cough...

8. Like Sarah I love rain. I'm happiest when it's raining or there are dark and gloomy clouds. Living in Washington makes this a very easily granted wish.

9. I get songs stuck in my head far too easily. Right now I have stuck in my head: Subterranean Homesick Blues (Bob Dylan), my little brother James' and I's revised version of Strangers In The Night titled Strangers On A Train (based on the Hitchcock film of the same title), and the entire Newsies soundtrack. I don't even like that movie!!!!!!!!!! My older sisters used to watch it all the time when I was little, but I hadn't seen it for about eight years, until two weeks ago when my friend forced me to watch it with her (it was either that or Aladdin and I would even watch a documentary on Jimmy Stewart to NOT have to watch Aladdin). Needless to say, the music mixture is boggling and messing with my mind....well, more than usual. ;-D

10. I'm going to post a post about what I eat when I watch movies later tonight! You better be getting excited! ;-D

I tag:

Harley/Graciebird of Dreaming In Black and White
Merriam of Bygone Brilliance
Nicole of Classic Hollywood Nerd (there now, you've been tagged and your post is legal ;-D)

Aww, poor Frank!

Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner's (a.k.a The Battling Sinatras) relationship has often been described as stormy, and so it was. The real problem was that they were far too much alike for their own good.

I adore both of them and always find the story completely heartbreaking!

After their break-up (and two months before their subsequent divorce) Frank recorded a song (that he also wrote). The title is: "I'm A Fool To Want You". It's his most personal recording and the pain and heartache practically drips from it. Listening to it, you are listening to Frank pour his heart out.

The lyrics:

I'm a fool to want you
I'm a fool to want you
To want a love that can't be true
A love that's there for others too
I'm a fool to hold you
Such a fool to hold you
To seek a kiss not mine alone
To share a kiss the Devil has known
Time and time again I said I'd leave you
Time and time again I went away
But then would come the time when I would need you
And once again these words I'd have to say
I'm a fool to want you
Pity me, I need you
I know it's wrong, it must be wrong
But right or wrong I can't get along
Without you
Time and time again I said I'd leave you
Time and time again I went away
But then would come the time when I would need you
And once again these words I'd have to say
Take me back, I love you
Pity me, I need you
I know it's wrong, it must be wrong
But right or wrong I can't get along without you...

Lovely Lady of the Week: Gene Tierney

Sorry about how long it took to get this post up!!!!

My lovely lady of the week is Gene Tierney!

Gene Tierney is SO amazing. She is in my top ten favorite actresses ever and she is number four on my list of most beautiful actresses ever. There is something about Gene and her performances that causes one to stop and watch. She had great tragedy in her life, but that didn't stop her from becoming one of the greatest stars/actresses of the last century. And plus, she made over-bites SO stylish!

Enjoy:

^WOW!

^The dress from Laura. Love it!

^I want a Gene Tierney mask!

Favorite Gene Films:

Laura
Dragonwyck
On The Riviera
Heaven Can Wait

Sorry about the overload of pics, but I have 130 wunderbar photos of her! It was quite painful to even shave it down to this many...

Favorite Quote of Today:

"If someone's dumb enough to offer me a million dollars to make a picture, I'm certainly not dumb enough to turn it down." -Elizabeth Taylor (about her role in Cleopatra)
