It's funny, when I first saw Gentlemen Prefer Blondes years ago, I was mesmerized by Jane Russell. I thought, and still do think, that Marilyn Monroe was brilliant in the film. But, Jane just stole every single scene in the movie. She just can't help it.
That's Jane Russell in every movie (and real life too). She practically dares you not to give her your undivided attention.
She will be greatly missed...

I was the same way when I watched Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Not only did I find Jane more fascinating than Marilyn, but I thought she was sexier. But then it seemed to me Jane had all the great lines! She was a truly great actress.
Those women of the 1940s were the most natural beauties we've seen. No longer do we see these wonderful, larger than life, women. Nowadays, it's the surgeons knife, a bit added, a bit taken, and they all look the same - plain, until they get old, then they look like ventriloquist's dummies - only the mouth can still move. If this is evolution, we should abandon it. RIP Jane.
