Ben Gazzara.

August 28, 1930 - February 3, 2012.
Ben Gazzara was a brilliant actor -- on the stage, in film, on television. He brought his Gazzaraness to everything.

He's one of my favorite actors to watch because he was so striking and unique. It's impossible to forget one of his performances. He could be doing the most lazy acting job in the stupidest movie, and STILL be utterly fascinating. He just WAS fascinating.

He will be missed.

They'll all be missed. :'(

Aww, I didn't realize he'd passed. Loved his work in "Anatomy of a Murder" in particular! I can never decide if I hope he goes free or gets convicted. That's talent -- creating ambivalence in the audience is tough!

He was also quite the bad boy. He ganged up with some fellow guests on the Dick Cavett Show to derail the interviews. Tour guides at Universal Studios during his heyday were instructed not to mention his name or point him out to guests on the tours, or they'd be fired.
